Country Star Billy Dean coming to Plaza Arts

- Billy Dean will perform on the Plaza Arts Center lawn on May 31 at 7:30 p.m.
Billy Dean’s versatility as an entertainer, has garnered him over two decades of hits and numerous awards. Shortly after high school, a worldwide talent search landed him in Nashville in the early 80s, where he finished in the top ten.
In 1988, Dean entered another talent show, and won his first episode of Ed McMahon’s “Star Search” and received national recognition and the attention of music executives. Dean’s debut album, “Young Man,” was released on Capital Records in 1990, along with his single, “Only Here for a Little While,” which peaked at number three on the Billboard charts.
Dean co-authored his second single “Somewhere in my Broken Heart” with Hall of Fame songwriter Richard Leigh, which soared all the way to number one and was nominated for a Grammy. “Somewhere In My Broken Heart” went on to win The Academy of Country Music’s Song of The Year, earning Dean his first platinum album and Country Music’s Top New Male Vocalist of The Year award.
Dean joined forces with Kenny Rogers in singing “Buy Me a Rose” which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Charts in 2000. Billy has also partnered with Allison Krauss and Lonestar. Some of his other hits include, “We Just Disagree,” “Let Them be Little,” “Billy the Kid,” and his version of the John Denver classic, “Thank God I’m a Country Boy.”
Billy Dean’s music has sold millions worldwide. Eleven top ten singles and five number ones, expanding this singer’s career, adding several acting credits to his name. Some of his movie and TV credits include One Life To Live, Lois and Clark, Wings, Diagnosis Murder, A Face to Kill For, Blue Valley Songbird, Lifetime TV Specials, Good Morning Texas, Prime Time Country and ABC In Concert Country (1994 Season).

Tickets will also be sold at the gate.
The concert is being sponsored by Evergy Power, a solar company. Children 12 and under are free but must be accompanied by an adult. GA Butts BBQ will be on site selling $5 BBQ Baskets. Guests can feel free to bring their own chairs, picnics and blankets.
