Moon and Back assists

This week the Greene County Chamber of Commerce would like to spotlight the Moon and Back Foundation. All of the non-profits in our community are an asset to our community, but the Moon and Back Foundation is extra special due to the extraordinary circumstances under which it was started.

Seventeen-year-old Jody Lawrence was diagnosed with cancer while a student at Anita White Carson Middle School in Greensboro. After several years of chemotherapy and radiation and battling her illness, Jody decided that it was time to give back. She decided to start the Moon and Back Foundation to try and help meet the needs of those going through similar situations.

Thus the Foundation was born and strives to help families with children that have terminal illnesses. According to the mission, those working with the Foundation know that “there are financial, physical, and emotional set backs” that come with terminal illness and the Foundation wants to alleviate “some of the additional stress that disease can cause.”

Unfortunately Jody lost her battle with cancer on Friday, June 28 but her legacy will live on through this foundation.
