A lively group of 40 Pete Nance Boys and Girls Club members embarked on an adventure to see a real and true baseball game. For many it was their first experience watching live baseball. The trip to a noon Gwinnett Braves game in Lawrenceville was organized by the club’s super volunteer Charles Finch.

The happy fans were transported on a Greene County school bus by driver Mr. Barnes. Chaperones joining Captain Finch included staff members Ms. Dana and Peter White, as well as parent Ms. McCommons.
The school cafeteria fixed lunches that were eagerly consumed picnic-style before entering the ballpark. Though it sprinkled periodically during the game, the weather didn’t put a damper on the fun.
The kids explored the entire ballpark and ate pizza, cotton candy, pretzels, slurpies and purchased souvenirs. They actually learned a lot about baseball. During the music between innings, they did the “wave” and danced at their seats.
The day ended back at the club at 5 p.m. after a wonderful time with friends at a beautiful ballpark. Another terrific experience thanks to Captain Finch, chaperones and club Director Bobby Mackey.
