Lake Oconee Dentistry is pleased to announce that Patti Bradley, DMD, has received the 2013 Fellowship Award from the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD).

The AGD Fellowship Award is presented to dentists who seek to provide the highest quality of dental care by remaining current in their profession. To accomplish this goal, Dr. Bradley completed 500 hours of continuing dental education in a variety of disciplines and passed a rigorous, comprehensive exam. FAGD dentists are an elite group, representing less than four percent of all general dentists in the United States and Canada

“We are proud to honor Dr. Bradley for her commitment to the profession,” says Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) President Linda J. Edgar, DDS, MEd, MAGD. “She has distinguished herself professionally among her peers and is a role model for both fellow dentists and members of the community.”

Dr. Bradley has been trained in different areas of modern general dentistry, as well as short-term orthodontics, TMJ (jaw-joint) disorders, dental implants, conscious sedation, sleep medicine and advanced restorative and cosmetic techniques. Currently, Dr. Bradley is pursuing the Mastership award from the AGD, a distinction held by less than two percent of all general dentists in the U.S. and Canada. It requires an additional 600 hours of education, covering hands-on training, participation and presentation in 16 different disciplines of dentistry.

“While there are basic requirements a dentist must adhere to for continuing education, it’s important to recognize that dental technology is changing daily. Basic educational requirements are no longer enough to stay current,” says Dr. Bradley. “Today’s dentist needs to be a life-long student who continually expands her knowledge base in order to offer patients the best options for long-term oral health.”

Dr. Bradley received her B.S. degree in dental hygiene from Marquette University, and then received her D.M.D. degree from the University of Louisville in 1995. She was an instructor at the University of Louisville in the Department of Dental Hygiene and the Department of Periodontics before moving to Georgia in 1997 and opening Lake Oconee Dentistry with her husband, Dr. David Bradley, in 1998. In addition to the AGD, Dr. Bradley is a member of many other professional and social organizations. She and her husband are proud to be recognized as the area’s “Best Dentist” by readers of the Lake Oconee Breeze two years in a row.
