Hot Diggity Doug (Storyteller, Barry Stewart Mann) and his dog Digger mesmerized his Vacation Reading Club audience with stories featuring characters from favorite children’s books. The children were encouraged to participate by acting out those characters.

The annual Awards and Pizza Party followed this last summer program of the year. Prizes were given to those reading the most books in their grade level. Winners were: Serenity Jackson (kindergarten), Callie Reinke (first grade), Edgar Ortiz (second grade), Jonathan Moon (third grade), Tykia Smith (fourth grade), Umar Sultan (fifth grade) and Keedon Reid (sixth – 12th grade). Each child received books donated by the Nelson Circle of the United Methodist Church. Every child who read the required number of books for their grade level received Pizza Hut coupons.

Gabriella Boivin, of Miss Mag’s Storytime group (ages 0-4), had the most books read to her. Bill Darfler was the number one reader in the Adult division.
