Lake Oconee’s first Oconee Idol will hold auditions at Festival Hall at 6 p.m. Contestants must complete an online application by Sept. 1. Applications can be found on the OPAS website, www.opas.org, the OPAS Facebook page, www.facebook.com/OPASarts, or the Putnam Greene Young Professionals Facebook page, www.facebook.com/PutnamGreeneYP. The Old Salem Fire Rescue will host their fourth annual 911 Golf Tournament. There are multiple ways to help: become a sponsor, put together a team ($125 per player), buy raffle tickets ($10 for one, $100 for 15) for a chance to win $1,000 or donate a gift item.
