- More than 500 attendees took part in the delectable dishes of last year's Taste of Eatonton. The Eatonton Putnam County Chamber of Commerce is anticipating another year of great food and good times.
It’s time once again to take a bite out of Putnam County’s savory event, a Taste of Eatonton. The 14th annual Taste of Eatonton event will be held Monday, Oct. 7 at its new location, The Village at Harmony Crossing, starting at 6 p.m. This is the first year that will start the location rotation. The 2014 Taste of Eatonton event is slated to be held at its original location, The Plaza Arts Center.
“We decided to alternate between the two locations to hopefully bring in new attendees and restaurants,” said Becky Needham, Chamber Membership Manager.
The Taste of Eatonton features booths for more than 25 different restaurants from Eatonton-Putnam County, Milledgeville, Greensboro, Madison and Monticello. It’s a family oriented event that all ages can enjoy.
“Some food events cater to adults or children only. This is a family styled outing where you can bring everyone in the family to sample the best of the best,” said Needham.
Participating 2013 restaurants include At Your Service Catering & Country Kitchen, Bone Island Grill, Chez Michelle, Crooked Pines Farm, Publix Supermarkets, Putnam County High School Culinary Arts, Rock Eagle 4-H Center and Spillin The Beans Cafe.
Taste of Eatonton is the Chamber’s largest fundraiser of the year.
“We usually bring in a little over 500 attendees each year,” said Needham.
Along with the food, there’s also a silent auction filled with great local deals. Silent auction items range from artwork and dinner deals to spa treatments and vacations
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the event. Tickets for children ages 5 to 12 are available for $10, and children four and under eat for free. Tickets go on sale September 4 and can be purchased at Farmers & Merchants Bank Eatonton and Lake Oconee branches; Exchange Bank; BB&T; SunTrust Bank; Pinnacle Credit Union; and The Peoples Bank Eatonton, Lake Oconee and Lake Sinclair branches.
The Taste of Eatonton is sponsored by Smith Communications, WMGZ/Z-97, Union-Recorder & Lake Oconee Breeze, Dock 103.9, Farmers & Merchants Bank, Putnam General Hospital, Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee, Pinnacle Credit Union, Bug House Pest Control, The Peoples Bank, Putnam County Charter School System and Georgia Power Company.
