- New Pete Nance Teen Center Director Tina Epps.
A new teen program serving middle school and high school youth, ages 14 -18, is coming to Greene County. The facility is located upstairs at the Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club. Extensive renovations to the expansive space have been underway for two months with finishing touches almost complete and new furniture arriving next week.
The program will be led by Mrs. Tina Epps, new Director of the Pete Nance Teen Center. She earned her associates degree in Psychology from Georgia Perimeter College, Decatur. She furthered her studies in Human Services with a BA degree in Science from Mercer University, Macon. Epps has worked with children, youth, adolescents and their families for 24 years. Her experience has been in the public school system (five years), mental health field (three years), the church (10 years) and the Boys & Girls Club (eight years). She holds certifications in Healthy Parenting Skills, GA Mental Health Paraprofessional and is an ordained Youth Pastor.
Epps is no stranger to the Boys & Girls Club movement. With more than eight years of experience Epps has worked with the Barksdale Boys & Girls Club in Conyers. She started as an art room instructor then moved to Learning Center Coordinator and eventually promoted to Teen Center Director. Epps built teen membership there to more than 150 members with an average daily attendance of more than 80 youth.
Epps brings a broad scope of experience and a wealth of knowledge to the new Teen Center at the Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club. She is passionate about youth and the endless possibilities that lay ahead of them. She gets joy out of seeing even one individual meet and exceed their own expectations.
She has a “We Can Do It!” attitude and is a firm believer that teamwork is essential to success. Her motto has been “If I can help somebody as I travel along my way, then my living shall not be in vain!”
Registration for the Teen Center Program has already begun. Membership in “The Club” is $40 per year. Membership is limited with only 30 spaces left. Call Epps at 706-454-1120 for more information.
