- Nine of the Eatonton Harmonettes attended an Education Day at Stone Mountain.
The Eatonton Harmonettes just returned from their first “Education Day” at Stone Mountain.
There were nine ladies from the Harmonettes in attendance, along with the other two area 6 choruses from Harmony Inc. There were a total of 42 women and several coaches that made up the group.
The coaches worked with all the ladies on proper breath control, pitch and palate placement to effect the best sound. They also worked on posture as well as consonant and diphthong sounds.
A song was chosen ahead of time for the three groups to learn independently called “As Long As I’m Singing”, made famous by Bobby Darin back in the day. This song is a wonderful swing tune that the chorus had a great time blending together. This was the first time the Eatonton Harmonettes participated in this yearly event.
The Harmonettes are gearing up for their Holiday performances and are inviting all ladies that like to sing Christmas Carols to come out on any Thursday night from 7-9, to sing with them. The ladies meet the first, third and fifth Thursdays at Liberty Chapel, 269 Old Milledgeville Highway in Eatonton, and the second and fourth Thursday at Lakeside Church in Greensboro just past Boats with Gusto.
It’s always best to call ahead of time to be sure the ladies are singing that night and not at a performance.
The Harmonettes have several upcoming performances: Sept. 12 for the Energizers group at Crooked Pines farm at 6 p.m.; Sept. 17 at Harbor Club for the ladies group at 1 p.m.; and Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m. for May Kay Cosmetics.
