Sept. 7 – Jan. 5
Madison Morgan Cultural Center, Madison, will be the first venue to host Wesleyan College’s Masterworks: A Traveling Exhibition of American Paintings from Wesleyan College. The exhibit includes 25 paintings from Wesleyan’s Helena Eastman Ogden Campbell Collection and 10 pieces from a variety of other collections.
Sept. 19
The Pray, Hope and Believe Cancer Support Group will meet at BodyPlex, 106 Village Lane, Eatonton, at 6:30 p.m. Jennette Boutault, a Certified Personal Trainer, Nutritional Counselor and Weight Loss Expert, will speak about Cancer and Exercise. For more information contact Toni Davis 706-923-1708.
The Madison Artists Guild will host a Ladies Night Pottery Workshop from 7-9 p.m. at the MAGallery, 217 W. Jefferson St., Madison. Chuck Hanes and Elizabeth Collins of Beauty and Beast Art will teach the class; no experience is necessary. Bring your own ideas and samples if you’d like. The fee is $50 and includes materials and firing costs.
Sept. 20 – 21
Morgan County Extension Volunteers will host their September Plant Sale. The event will be from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. both days at the County Extension Office, 440 Hancock Street, Madison (just north of the courthouse on same side of the street).
Sept. 21
The LifeSource Food Distribution Program will take place at 10 a.m. in the Putnam County Elementary School Gym. Any disabled resident who has already registered and would like to designate someone to get his or her food distribution must give that person a signed authorization to do so. Putnam General Hospital will provide nutrition education and counseling. DFCS will provide assistance applications and answer questions. ORHS representatives will provide pet food and signups for spaying/neutering services. FERST Foundation for Childhood Literacy will provide free books/signups.
The Georgia Classic Cruisers Car Club and the Greensboro Better Hometown Program will present their annual Cruise-In Car Show from 4-8 p.m. in downtown. Sept. 22
Nathanael Greene Academy will host an Alumni Flag Football game. A pre-game practice will be held Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. The game will be at 6 p.m. on Sept. 26 at the NGA stadium on Rhodes Field. All alumni are invited to attend, whether to play or to cheer on the sidelines. Even year graduates are asked to wear green, odd year students are asked to wear white. Sept. 24
The Greene County Health Department, 1031 Apalachee Road, Greensboro, will host its annual Flu Shot Day. No others services will be provided at the Health Department during this time. Shots will be provided from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Sept. 26
OPAS will host Music Under the Pines at the Stables in Harbor Club. Singer, songwriter and pianist Lindy Gravelle brings a unique sound rooted in country music with added elements of rockabilly swing and pop to provide an entertaining and personal show that you will not want to miss. The Blake Adams FCA 2013 Golf Classic will take place at the Cuscowilla Golf Resort on Lake Oconee. The event is hosted by PGA Touring Professional Blake Adams. Potential sponsors and players are encouraged to contact amanderson@fca.org.

The Greene County Christmas Stocking Fund has announced the following dates for application acceptance, volunteer training and donation sorting:
Oct. 3 (10 a.m.–noon): Computer training for data entry volunteers
Oct. 3-4 (2-6 p.m.): Applications accepted at FUMC in Union Point
Oct. 5 (10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) – 6 (1:30-4:30 p.m.): Applications accepted at Athens Tech Computer Lab
Dec. 3 (1-4:30 p.m.): Clothes sorting and packing (Walkers Church)
Dec 4: Clothes bags moved to County Building (3-4 volunteers needed)
Dec 16: Initial toy sorting and counting, shopping if needed
Dec. 17-18: Toys for Tots collection, final toy sorting
Dec. 19 (9 a.m.-noon): Distribute senior gifts at Greensboro Senior Center (3-4 volunteers needed)
Dec 20: Pack toys
Dec 21: Load trucks
Dec 23 (10 a.m.-1 p.m.): Distribution to the families with children at GCHS

The second annual Fall Family Festival and Titan Trot will be held at Lake Oconee Academy, off Carey Station Road in Greensboro. The 5K will begin at 8 a.m. and the Fun Run taking place at 9:30. OPAS is pleased to present American Idol finalist Melinda Doolittle in a special concert at Festival Hall in Greensboro. Melinda, along with Jim Grey and the Session Players Big Band, will bring R&B and Jazz to Lake Oconee. The first Oconee Idol winner will also perform before the show.
