GCCSF announces application and volunteerism dates

The Greene County Christmas Stocking Fund, P.O. Box 741, Greensboro, Ga. 30642, is once again accepting applications.
To apply you must meet the following criteria: have at least one child 13 years or younger living fulltime in your household; or be 62 years or older as of Dec. 31.
Bring Social Security Cards or proof of Tax ID# for everyone in the household as well as verification of total income for all household members.
Applications will be accepted at two locations the following dates and times:
- Union Point Methodist, 2-6 p.m. Oct. 3-4
- Athens Tech, 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Oct. 5, 1:30-4:30 p.m. Oct. 6
Denied applicants will be notified by mail during November. Approved applicants will be notified by mail at a later date.
The Stocking Fund is also in need of volunteers and has a preliminary schedule in place.
- Oct. 3 (10 a.m.–noon): Computer training for data entry volunteers
- Dec. 3 (1-4:30 p.m.): Clothes sorting and packing (Walkers Church)
- Dec 4: Clothes bags moved to County Building (3-4 volunteers needed)
- Dec. 16: Initial toy sorting and counting, shopping if needed
- Dec. 17-18: Toys for Tots collection, final toy sorting
- Dec. 19 (9 a.m.-noon): Distribute senior gifts at Greensboro Senior Center (3-4 volunteers needed)
- Dec. 20: Pack toys
- Dec. 21: Load trucks
- Dec. 23 (10 a.m.-1 p.m.): Distribution to the families with children at GCHS
