On Tuesday, July 30, Lake Oconee Animal Hospital held a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house with the Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the new ownership of Dr. Michael Chapman.
Lake Oconee Animal Hospital is a mixed-animal veterinary medicine and surgical practice. Dr. Chapman and his team place a strong emphasis on preventative medicine/surgery and nutrition to keep companion animals healthy and reduce the incidence of illness that could have been prevented. The office also provides basic grooming and boarding of pets and maintains an inventory of pet medicines, treatments and prescription diets.
Dr. Chapman became the new owner of the business on May 1 of this year.
“Opening my own practice is an opportunity to offer veterinary services and products in a way that I think appeals to pet owners: a well-maintained, clean and comfortable facility, building long-term relationships with clients and patients while providing sensible, compassionate care with a value-conscious attitude. I bought an existing facility that is ideally located between Eatonton and Greensboro, and convenient to both Lake Oconee and Lake Sinclair,” explains Dr. Chapman.
Lake Oconee Animal Hospital fully subscribes to the One Health concept, in which multiple disciplines are working to attain optimal health for people, animals and the environment.
According to Dr. Chapman, “Studies have shown that most people consider their pets part of their family, and that means interacting and sharing their environment. It is estimated that at least 75 percent of emerging and re-emerging diseases are spread between humans and animals, or carried from infected animals to others through insects. Our slogan, ‘We want to be your ‘other’ family doctor’, supports the One Health concept. Our focus is enhancing the health of patients’ entire homes.”
Lake Oconee Animal Hospital is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday by appointment. Dr. Chapman responds personally to emergency calls. Clients are seen promptly at their appointment time with enough time allotted to thoroughly listen, examine, treat and provide consultation. Walk-ins are welcome, but may have to wait if there are existing appointments. Non-emergency farm calls are scheduled in advance, also.
The Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome Lake Oconee Animal Hospital as a Chamber member.
“I believe that being a member of the Chamber exhibits a willingness to be accountable for your business reputation and practices, in addition to the conventional benefits that come with being a Chamber member, such as networking and publicity,” says Dr. Chapman.
Lake Oconee Animal Hospital is located at 613 Old Phoenix Road in Eatonton. For more information call 706-485-5119 or visit www.facebook.com/LakeOconeeAnimalHospital.
