Doctor joins Middle Georgia Medical Associates

Roland W. Nash, M.D., has joined Middle Georgia Medial Associates as a primary care physician specializing in Family Medicine. Dr. Nash, a resident of Madison, has extensive experience as an emergency medicine physician, hospitalist and a family practice physician with numerous hospitals and medical groups, including St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital and its predecessor, St. Joseph’s of East Georgia.
“Dr. Nash is a highly trained physician who has been known and well-respected in our area’s medical community for several years,” said James Tippett, M.D., medical director of Middle Georgia Medical Associates (MMA). “He is a dedicated husband and father with a lovely wife and four beautiful daughters.
“We are thrilled that he has decided to join our practice and devote even more of his energy and expertise to patients here in middle Georgia,” Dr. Tippett continued. “He will serve as the patient’s primary care physician, emphasizing preventive medicine while being the patient’s advocate when services are needed throughout the healthcare system.”

A graduate of Arkansas State University, Dr. Nash earned his master’s degree in business administration from Northern Illinois University. Subsequently, he earned his medical degree and completed his Family Practice residency at East Tennessee State University. Dr. Nash is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Nash began his medical career at the Military Entrance Processing Station in Knoxville, Tenn. He went on to join the Hospitalist Group of Knoxville and to serve in a variety of emergency and hospitalist settings, including regional medical director for emergency and hospital medicine for Emergency Care Clinic of TeamHealth, Knoxville, Tenn. He also has affiliations with a number of hospitals and clinics, including Novia Care Clinics in Monroe, Landmark Hospital in Athens and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Asheville, N.C.
In addition, he has extensive experience in the U.S. Armed Forces, holding the post of Lieutenant Colonel in the Massachusetts Air National Guard. Currently, he is Chief of Professional Services, 102nd MDG, Otis Air National Guard Base, Massachusetts, and is Officer in Charge of Medical Component, CBRNE Enhanced Response Force Package, Massachusetts National Guard.
