Through Dec. 31

Christmas on Dixie, a joint effort by the McCurley and Seabolt families of Madison, showcases nearly 40 outside inflatable Christmas decorations in a single field. Located on Wilson Road, between Madelyn Lane and Dixie Highway, the display is fully lit from dusk until 11 each evening. Please note the display is located on private property.

 

Dec. 3 – Dec. 23

The Greene County Christmas Stocking Fund has announced the following volunteer dates:

Dec 16: Initial toy sorting and counting, shopping if needed

Dec. 17-18: Toys for Tots collection, final toy sorting

Dec. 19 (9 a.m.-noon): Distribute senior gifts at Greensboro Senior Center (3-4 volunteers needed)

Dec 20: Pack toys

Dec 21: Load trucks

Dec 23 (10 a.m.-1 p.m.): Distribution to the families with children at GCHS

Dec. 12

Madison Artists Guild will hold its annual Gingerbrad Workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center. Pre-registration is required. Register at MAG, 217 W. Jefferson St., Madison.

 

Dec. 13

Dec. 13-15

Madison Artists Guild and the Broughton Artist Group will hold The Broughton Reunion Show at the Madison Artists Guild Gallery, 217 W. Jefferson St. Dec. 13 the show will open from 5 to 8 p.m. with a reception. Dec. 14 the show will continue for 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 15. Dec. 14

Stepback, Putnam County, invites everyone to attend a Christmas open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Self-tour authentically furnished buildings reminiscent of an early 1900s town. See period farm equipment and find a moonshine still on the creek. The open house is free. Stepback is located approximately four miles south of Eatonton on 441 South at 176A Dennis Station Road.

 

The LifeSource Food Distribution Program will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the Putnam County Elementary School Gym. Any disabled resident who has already registered and would like to designate someone to get his or her food distribution must give that person a signed authorization to do so. North Pole contacts have confirmed that Santa and Mrs. Claus, assisted by student elves, will be present to distribute toys in all age groups for the children of those who receive a food distribution. This food and toy distribution is sponsored by the Putnam County Charter School System.

 

Dec. 18

OPAS is honored to present Emmy award nominated Michael Londra with an evening of Christmas from Ireland told in song, dance and the classic stories of his youth at Festival Hall in Greensboro. Tickets go on sale Sept. 30. Visit www.opas.org for more information.

 

Dec. 18-20

The Eatonton-Putnam County Library will be having a Bag O’ Books fundraiser from 10-6 p.m. at the Library. Browse our sizable selection of used books and fill a medium sized bag for $4 or a large bag for $8, a great place to look for Christmas gifts! We will also be giving away free Christmas decorations.

 

Jan. 11

The Steffen Thomas Museum of Art will feature a multi media pop-up class taught by art teacher Marjean Meadow. The class will be from 10 a.m. to noon with a fee of $10 for adults, $8 for children ($2 discount for members) and free attendance for those in financial need. The Steffen Thomas Museum of Art presents a temporary exhibit for the 2013 holiday season entitled “Steffen Thomas in the Extreme: Works Large and Small”. Through Feb. 16

The ice skating rink will be open at Reynolds Plantation. The rink is open to the general public: $30 for adults; $20 for ages 12 and under.

 

February – March

Oconee Performing Arts Society will present Education and Outreach Programs. In February the Atlanta Opera will present “En Miss Palabras” for two performances. Let’s Go Science with Professor Smart will hold two performances in March. For more information visit www.opas.org.
