Lake Oconee Urgent Care Specialty Center is pleased to announce the addition of James Chambers, Physician Assistant, to their team of health care professionals.
Prior to becoming a Physician Assistant, Chambers served proudly in the United States Army as a Combat Medical Specialist for three years. He was assigned to the 173rd Headquarters Battalion-Scout Platoon at Fort Irwin, Calif. where his unit had the dubious title of “First in – Last Out.” After completing his military service, Chambers attended the University of Southern California’s Physician Assistant Program. He excelled in his class and studies and was looked to as a leader by his peers by serving as class president and graduating from the program in 1992.
Chambers’ passion for helping others continued when he learned of an opportunity to provide services for the under-served communities of Los Angeles, Calif. By joining the National Health Service Corp and providing medical services for the Community Health Foundation of East Los Angeles, Chambers became very engaged in community oriented programs that focused on active commitment from each individual to socially participate in the enhancement of communities.
In 1996, Chambers was recruited by the West End Medical Center and Atlanta Medical Hospital to provide a unique culturally diverse setting of medical care within identified community settings. Chambers became an integral part of the transformation of select communities within the greater Atlanta region. It was from this concept, Chambers decided to create a medical practice that would continue the efforts of providing quality medical services to the senior citizen population of Atlanta, which was growing in numbers. In 1999, Chambers founded Friendship Community Healthcare Inc. The company focused on providing medical house-call services for seniors and adults who were medically or physically unable to travel into the office setting. This program was very welcomed and successful in the Atlanta area. In fact, it was made one of three medical programs utilized by the Atlanta Housing Authority. Later, Chambers became one of the founders of Progressive Community Healthcare Inc. in Atlanta.
Now, Chambers has partnered with Lake Oconee Urgent Care & Specialty Center bringing his passion as a Physician Assistant, CEO, and creative business developer to the residents of the Lake Oconee Region. Chambers understands a medical provider must assume a leadership role in the management of a patient’s healthcare but most importantly providers must also be willing to listen and create an effective partnership for positive outcomes in care of their patients. Chambers will deliver quality acute and chronic illness medical services to Lake Oconee area residents along with specialty medical care that will focus on adult men medical services. These services will entail a focus in chronic illnesses, testosterone replacement therapy and yearly well-care services.
Chambers currently resides in Stone Mountain but desires to make the Lake Oconee area his place of residence in the near future. He is married to L’Tonya Chambers and has three boys, Dustin, Jordan, and Kendall. His wife is also very active within the community setting after 12 years of serving families within the public school system by creating The Family Solution Agency LLC. His son, Dustin has served proudly in the United States Navy.
While Chambers is still actively serving communities within the Greater Atlanta areas by volunteering at the Hands of Hope Medical Center in Stockbridge where he provides free medical services for less fortunate citizens, he also is still affiliated with the United States military branches. Chambers continues to travel within the state of Georgia and abroad to perform Pre Health Assessment and Post Deployment Re-assessment Exams on military soldiers that are deployed and returning from deployment.
“We couldn’t be prouder to have James Chambers on staff. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a wealth of experience to offer our patients. His commitment to serving others exemplifies the mission of our practice,” said Eddie Richardson Jr., M.D., FAAFP, and CEO of Lake Oconee Urgent Care Specialty Center. “Our practice is built upon the details. Our patients come to us with confidence and trust because we strive to provide the very best experience, compassion, and expertise every time. James compliments our philosophy here perfectly,” Dr. Richardson concluded.
