The Nelson Circle of the First United Methodist Church met Monday, Jan. 20, at the Broad Street Campus. Thirty three members and four visitors enjoyed hearing information from Dr. Andrew Lawrence. He is with Athens General and Colorectal Surgeons, Dr. Ryan Katz and Dr. Sergio Mejias. Lawrence comes to Athens from Vail, Colorado, where he performed surgery for 12 years. Their group will be performing surgery at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital, Athens Regional, and St. Mary’s Athens. Lawrence comes from a family of doctors, and his wife is a pharmacist.  They have two preschool children and made the move to Athens to be closer to family.

On Monday, March 17, at 1 in the afternoon, the Nelson Circle will present its annual fashion show that raises money for non-profit groups in the Greensboro area.  

“Spring Forward in Style” will have fashions from Chico’s in Athens and Madeleine Page’s of Greensboro, door prizes, and refreshments. Please mark your calendars.
