Smoke on the Mountain comes to Festival Hall

Oh, happy day! The time is here for an encore production of Smoke on the Mountain. Performances by the original cast begin February 27th and run through March 2nd. Don’t miss out on the South’s favorite musical. Festival Hall will be a toe-tappin’ place come Thursday when the Sanders Family returns to the gospel music circuit after a five-year hiatus. Strong witness and powerful singing opens the door for the spirit to start moving. When Burl and Vera’s daughters present the little song that they worked on, the good folks at rural Mt. Pleasant Baptist are abruptly introduced to the modern world. Eyebrows raise, mouths drop open and the fur starts to fly.

Can the good pastor at Mt. Pleasant salvage the evening and keep his fold from walking out? Can the Sanders win the mind and hearts of Miss Maude and Miss Myrtle, the legalistic, Bible-thumping spinsters who bankroll Mt. Pleasant Baptist? No guarantee on that, but the Greene County Players can guarantee one powerful night of fun and entertainment for you. You will want to see this musical time and again. Tickets are $20 and $15. Curtain is at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27th; Friday, February 28th; Saturday, March 1st . Sunday, March 2nd matinee starts at 2:30 p.m. Call Festival Hall in downtown Greensboro at (762) 243-8022 to make your reservations.
