Great Waters can be a pretty scary place – and we’re not talking about those scary-fast greens.

In the spirit of the season, Karen and Wayne Bain once again organized their Halloween Scramble, which was played on the Great Waters front nine Friday, Oct. 25 under brilliant blue skies. Everyone who participated wore a costume, and part of the challenge is finding a costume in which you can actually swing a club.

The afternoon’s festivities began with a putting contest which was won by Margaret Knight. Great Waters assistant pro Adam Charles got in on the fun by setting up the putting course so that the golfers had to avoid snakes, skulls and tombstones in order to sink a putt. In the winning foursome were Sheryl and Dennis Bailey and Tim and Nancy Forrester.

Other awards went to Nancy Forrester, who won closest to the pin, and Andrea Wuori and Tim Forrester, who won for best costumes.

Susan Punger provided the valuable service of traveling on-course libation provider.

After play was completed, the group proceeded to the Waterview Room, not only for cocktails, dinner and awards, but to celebrate the last Happy Hour in that location before the Great Waters Clubhouse reopening on Oct. 29.
