Circle the date, Saturday, Aug. 16. Oconee Regional Humane Society will be holding a pet food drive. Volunteers will be collecting dog and cat food at Publix shopping center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monetary donations are also appreciated. In addition there will be cute and cuddly dogs and kittens available for adoption.
Last year ORHS rescued and found forever homes for 326 dogs and 118 cats. It takes a lot of food to feed all those hungry mouths while the animals are waiting to find that special family to love. ORHS also participates in the food distribution programs in Greene and Putnam counties each month providing food for pets of needy families. ORHS distributes over a thousand pounds of pet food each month.
If you are unable to drop off food on the 16, drop off pet food donations at the ORHS Center at 1020 Park Avenue in Greensboro, located behind the Bulldog Supper Club. The Center is open Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can also stop in to visit a few of the animals your donations are helping to rescue.
