Area students awarded scholarships

The Harbor Club Men’s Golf Association recently awarded scholarships to three local high school scholars. The awards are funded by their annual Memorial Scholarship Tournament.
Lena Visser of Greensboro, a Gatewood Academy graduate, was a member of the Gatewood swim team as well as the Athens Bulldog Swim Club. She will be majoring in business management in the honors program at the University of Georgia.
Sarah Bottchen graduated from Putnam County High School in Eatonton where she was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Art Club among her many activities. She is headed to Georgia Southern where she’ll study international trade.
Kevin Cervantes of Greensboro, attended Nathanael Greene Academy where he was active
on the football, basketball and golf teams. He also will be off to the University of Georgia where he’ll major in computer engineering.
The scholarship winners recently met with Tournament Chairman, Bud Stultz, at Harbor Club where they were presented with personalized plaques and monetary awards for their outstanding achievements.
