Greene County Library’s Vacation Reading Program closed on a musical note as “the coolest kids band in the world” — Jr. Madness — had the kids singing, dancing and jumping to the music on the last day of the summer series.

This year’s programs featured everything from puppets shows and storytellers to science, reptiles and a class on martial arts. All encouraged the children to read as many books as they could during the summer.

Awards were given to those who read the most books at the annual Pizza Party. Prizes were given to those reading the most books in their grade level. Winners are: Jaylah Jernigan (0-4 years), Amijah Jernigan (grades K -2), Jermaine Jernigan (grades 3-5) and Jesse Munoz (grades 6-12).

The adult award went to Evelyn Miller.

Those reading the most books in each grade level received books donated by the Nelson Circle of the United Methodist Church. All who read the required number of books in their grade level received Pizza Hut coupons.
