The Minnesota Vikings on Monday announced they have decided to reinstate running back Adrian Peterson for Sunday’s game at New Orleans.
The decision comes four days after Peterson was indicted by a grand jury in Montgomery County, Texas, on a charge of reckless or negligent injury to a child. According to a police report obtained by Sports Radio 610 in Houston, Peterson used a tree branch to hit the alleged victim, his 4-year-old son, as punishment for pushing another one of Peterson’s children.
Amid the still-swirling controversy over the NFL’s handling of a domestic abuse case involving former Ravens running back Ray Rice, the Vikings’ decision to reinstate Peterson — who is likely to play against the Saints — provoked considerable reaction. Here is a sampling:

So Adrian Peterson’s punishment at the moment consists of missing a single blowout loss for which he still receives his game check

Dogfighting. Concussions. Abused women. Now Adrian Peterson and his kid. When does the NFL cross a line too far? http://t.co/NbB6BDroLB
