Lake Oconee Fishing Forecast, Nov. 13, 2014
Published 8:00 am Thursday, November 13, 2014
Lake Conditions – The lake is stained up the rivers and clear to lightly stained elsewhere
Lake Water Temperature – 65-66 degrees and dropping
Largemouth Bass – GOOD – Cooler water temperatures have large numbers of fish moving into shallow water to feed on shad. A Shad Rap and a Texas rigged worm have been good around docks in 2-6 feet of water. Rat-L-Traps, spinnerbaits, Shaky Head jigs and a small square bill crankbait will also take fish from shallow water around rip-rap, docks and seawalls. The fish are feeding heavily now on shad so keying on schools of shad is very important now.
Crappie – GOOD –The crappie bite is good with anglers trolling jigs and minnows over the deeper brushpiles and underwater trees. A good number of crappie are over underwater trees and brushpiles in the mouths of large coves and some schools are moving into the coves.
Hybrid/Striped/White Bass – GOOD – Fish are showing up in the mouths of large coves and creeks all around the lake and the best bet for success is live bait but anglers are also having success on spoons and the umbrella rig.
Catfish – GOOD – The catfish are moving out of the deeper water and into the larger coves to feed on shad. Smaller catfish can be caught with worms and other catfish bait but the larger catfish will bite best on live bait, cut bait or bream heads.
