- Susan Herring and Donna Weglewski share welcoming smiles with new members.
With a touch of crisp in the air, PLC members met at the Lake Club for the October luncheon meeting. Members visited over an Italian-themed menu while enjoying the Fall décor.
President Kathy Scott led the group through club business. Jeanne Bolen invited Members to take advantage of the perennially popular Wine on the Deck social in November. Martha Franks encouraged all to start stocking up on goodies for the Christmas Senior Shoe Boxes donated to local senior-living residents during the Holidays. And Terri Hedrick reminded us to save some of our Christmas shopping for the upcoming Artisan Market which features members’ creative handiworks.
The program was led by the director of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Ms. Katy Crapo. Katy gave us a brief history and overview of the educational opportunities available in the area for the ‘over 50’ age group. A variety of classes are held in Madison, Washington and Athens, making it easy to foster keen minds!
Betty Jean Craige introduced us to “Cosmo”, an obviously bright and brightly plumed parrot with an extensive vocabulary. Though Cosmo’s stage fright got the better of him, it was obvious there is a very loyal and loving connection between Dr. Craige and her beloved pet.
The Greene County Christmas Stocking fund and Stephanie Kunce shared the generous spoils of the 50/50 raffle. Vickie Jenkins, director of the fund, drew the winning ticket and accepted the PLC donation on behalf of the senior citizens and children who benefit from our largesse.
