Lake Sinclair Fishing Forecast, Dec. 18, 2014

Published 8:00 am Thursday, December 18, 2014

Lake Conditions – The lake is mostly clear to slightly stained.

Lake Water Temperature – 53-55 degrees

Largemouth Bass – FAIR/GOOD –Some shad are still in the deeper portions of creeks and coves but are migrating back to the main lake as water temperatures continue to drop. The fish are in transition right now and the key to success is figuring out where the fish are located and then finding a lure that they will bite. The drop-shot rig and jigging spoons will produce fish in the 18-25 foot depths right now. Find schools of shad in the center of coves and creeks and fish the drop-shot rig or jigging spoon. There are always some quality fish around deeper docks that are willing to take a jig. Slow fishing but it produces big fish.

Crappie – FAIR/GOOD – Some fish remain around deep brushpiles but many have migrated or moved into the mouths or center of large coves and are being caught by trolling jigs. The drop-shot rig with a lively minnow will catch fish on the bottom in water 18-30 feet.

Striped Bass/White Bass/Hybrid Bass – FAIR/Good –The fish are biting for anglers who troll crankbaits in the creeks and large coves. Things will continue improving with the arrival of even colder water temperatures. The jigging spoon has begun to catch some fish this past week.

Catfish – NO REPORT
