Lake Conditions – The lake has heavy stain in the rivers and moderate stain throughout the lake. There is less stained water located down lake around the Wallace Dam and some clearing is now occurring throughout the lake.
Lake Water Temperature – 48-50 degrees and has risen a few degrees with the recent warmer weather.
Largemouth Bass – FAIR – A good number of fish are in shallow water around docks and around rocks in water 6-12 feet deep and can be caught on crankbaits, spinnerbaits, shaky heads and jigs. Best bet is to fish the clearer water in Richland Creek. The drop-shot rig and jigging spoons will produce fish in the 18-40 foot depths near the Wallace Dam. Crankbaits are catching a few fish around the mouths of coves especially near any rocks. Find schools of shad around deep brushpiles or underwater trees and fish a jigging spoon.
Crappie – FAIR/GOOD – The fish are moving constantly now and some can be found in the mouths or center of large coves and creeks and are being caught by trolling jigs dark colored jigs due to the heavily stained water. The drop-shot rig with a two crappie hook setup and a couple of lively minnows will catch fish on the bottom in water 18-40 feet down lake.
Striped Bass/White Bass/Hybrid Bass – FAIR/Good –The fish bite has slowed now but for those anglers who watch the birds working the baitfish, they are catching a few fish. Use a jigging spoon in those same areas when the fish go deep.
Catfish – NO REPORT
