NEWBURYPORT, Mass. – Tenants of a New England apartment complex were evacuated on Sunday after the building’s roof collapsed under the weight of several feet of snow.

While no one was injured, the collapse is the third reported since a winter storm dumped more than a foot of snow across the region

Newburyport fire Chief Christopher LeClaire said tenants of three adjacent apartment complexes remained in their homes as emergency responders conducted inspections of the structures.

The Salvation Army in Newburyport is serving as a temporary shelter for those tenants who were evacuated.
