Lake Conditions – The lake is clearing but some stain persist in the rivers.
Lake Water Temperature – 71-74 degrees.
Largemouth Bass – GOOD – The fish have finished spawning and migrating away from spawning areas. A slow migration will soon begin back to the main lake. Fish can be found on the points where crankbaits and Carolina rigged plastics will get you a strike. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, jigs and Trick worms are good around docks, wood and any rocks in the main lake outside spawning coves. The shad spawn continues at various locations around the lake. A white fluke or floating worm worked around the shad spawn will get a strike.
Crappie – GOOD –The crappie have begun a migration back to brushpiles and underwater timber in deeper water. Trolling jigs over timber and fishing jigs/ minnows over the timber will catch fish now.
Striped Bass/White Bass/Hybrid Bass – Good – Some action continues in front of the Wallace Dam but the fish are now moving to the humps in the main lake and spreading out over other parts of the lake. Using live bait and trolling umbrella rigs will produce fish in those locations.
Catfish – GOOD – The catfish are still spawning all over the lake. Check out larger covers where the catfish have moved for their annual spawn. Live bait and cut bait will produce some big fish.
