TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- A middle-aged retired horse trainer purchased the only Powerball ticket sold in Indiana worth $1 million.
The man purchased his winning ticket on Tuesday and spent just $2 on the lottery – the value of one Powerball ticket.
“He said he’s going to call me ‘Extra Money’ from now on,” said the store manager, whose first name, ironically, is Money. His full name is Money Singh and he has been manager of the store for about a year.
“Yes and this store is located on Poplar Street and will get more ‘popular’ now,” Singh said.
The Powerball jackpot rose to $1.6 billion and will be split three ways, by winners in Florida, Tennessee and California.

The jackpot winners did not immediately come foreword Thursday, but the winning tickets were bought in Munford, a town of about 6,000 in Tennessee; the Los Angeles suburb of Chino Hills; and at a supermarket in Melbourne Beach, Florida, where residents of a nearby housing development were heard partying loudly after Wednesday night’s drawing.
The winning numbers of Wednesday night’s Jackpot was 4-8-19-27-34 and Powerball 10.
Singh said the winning ticket holder “came in about 7 a.m. (today) and said he had the winning ticket. He’s a good and regular customer. He is a very nice man,” Singh said. “He was very nervous.”
“He was white as a ghost and shaking” about his winnings, said Amy Elliott, assistant manager.
Singh said the store sold about 900 Powerball tickets on Wednesday and about 3,000 tickets in the past four days, Elliott said.
Tammy Marles, office manager for all of Jiffy Mini-Mart’s Terre Haute stores, said the company will receive 1 percent of the winning number.
“We’re very excited about that,” Marles said. “That will help. We have had winners before, but never this big. And he (the winner) is a regular customer. “
