Lake Oconee Fishing Forecast, Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016
Published 8:00 am Thursday, January 21, 2016
Lake Conditions – The main lake is muddy with some clearing in Richland Creek where better fishing success is occurring.
Lake Water Temperature – 52-55 degrees but will drop with this week’s colder weather.
Largemouth Bass – SLOW – The high water and muddy to severely stained water continues to have a negative impact on fishing success. The fish are still in the coves and the creeks and shallow. The docks, seawalls, rip-rap and shoreline woody structure will produce some fish on crankbaits, jigs, Carolina rigs and spinnerbaits. Colder weather this week may drive a good number of fish to deeper water.
Crappie – FAIR – The trolling bite has picked up now with the crappie located in the mouths of large coves and creeks.
Striped Bass/White Bass/Hybrid Bass – FAIR – The water conditions are having a negative impact on angler success but some anglers are beginning to catch fish on spoons near the dam when clearer water could be found.
Catfish – NO REPORT.
