Harbor Club welcome David Butler as executive chef

GREENSBORO – Harbor Club has named veteran culinary professional David Butler as executive chef for the 1,000-acre resort community on Lake Oconee, according to General Manager Brandon Matney.
In his new capacity Butler will be responsible for menu planning, staff training and food preparation for the clubhouse dining room at Harbor Club. He will also manage food prep for weddings, reunions, corporate outings and a myriad of other special events held at both Harbor Club and off-site venues.
Said Matney, “We’re very fortunate to welcome David Butler to Harbor Club. His credentials are as impressive as his creativity, hands-on approach and dedication to club member satisfaction.”
Butler brings an extensive culinary background to Harbor Club. He most recently served as executive chef for Kinderlou Forest, an upscale golf community in Valdosta, Ga. Prior to that he served in various capacities, including chef de cuisine, sous chef and executive chef, for such national-class resorts as The Cloister at Sea Island, the Ritz Carlton at Amelia Island and the Lodge at Little St. Simons Island.
Butler grew up in the business, working during high school as a cook at his grandparents’ boarding house/restaurant in Macon named The Butler House. He then cooked in several restaurants in Athens while attending the University of Georgia. Butler is a culinary arts graduate from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I.
