GriefShare is a support ministry for those who have lost loved ones, which meets weekly for 13 weeks. With the help of videos that address the issues we face in our grieving, as well as a workbook, we support one another through our journey of grief. You can join the group at any time, but starting at the beginning works best. Two groups will meet. One is Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 19. The other is Wednesday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 20. The AARP Foundation will offer free tax aid help for taxpayers with low and moderate income, with special attention to those ages 60 and above. All taxpayers can use this service, regardless of age. Services are available at the Greensboro Library from 1 to 4:30 p.m. every Thursday through April 14. Free electronic filing of federal and state income taxes. The deadline to enter the 2016 Miss Georgia Peach Scholarship Pageant is March 12. The pageant will be held March 19 at Fort Valley State University. It is open to any Georgia girl, ages 4 to 24. Only 15 entries are accepted per age group and may close before the deadline if 15 is reached. Optionals, including talent, are available. Queens serve as the official ambassadors of the Georgia peach Festival and the Peach Industry and are honored for service by the Georgia Senate, House and governor. Saltamacchio Karate will hold a woman’s self defense class from 2 to 5 p.m. at Saltamacchio’s Tang Soo Do Karate School at 899 Harmony Road, Suite 2, Eatonton. The focus of the three-hour class is to develop self awareness and be better prepared in case the need for self-protection occurs. The class will include hands-on training for unwanted advances, being grabbed, choked, hair pulls and more. Be sure to wear clothing that will allow free movement, such as work out apparel. All women aged 13 and up who are interested in learning how to protect themselves is encouraged to attend. Cost is $15 per person. Proceeds will be donated to charity. The Lake Oconee Quilt Guild Quilt Show will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at Festival Hall in Greensboro. It will display the talent of the group, provide an opportunity for the public to see the quilts up close, encourage others to become involved in the craft and continue the long tradition of quilting.

“Glitz at the Ritz” benefitting Pete Nance Boys and Girls Club of Greene County presents Eddie Byrd and the Good Vibrations Band. Addiction: Parent and Family Support Group. Join us for an open discussion in a confidential setting. Our group meets every other Wednesday from 6:15-8 p.m. at the Lake Oconee Community Church facility located at 1001 Village Park Drive, Greensboro. Lake Oconee Landscape Association has formed to promote professionalism in the green industry. All members of LOLA are required to be licensed, insured and reputable. LOLA members provide services such as: landscape installation, maintenance, lawn and shrub fertilization, weed control, garden centers and all outdoor needs. LOLA is a nonprofit organization to assist consumers in Greene, Putnam, Morgan and Baldwin counties to select quality landscape professionals.
