Harbor Club Ladies meet at da Corrado Restorante

The Harbor Club Ladies League held their February meeting at da Corrado Restorante where they enjoyed a delicious Italian style buffet luncheon prior to the meeting.  Debbie Cherry then welcomed all and introduced guests Pam Luke and Nell Lynch and new member Vicki Baker.  She then reminded the ladies that the Nominations Committee’s slate of officers will be voted on at the March meeting.

Danelle Borland of the Outreach Committee thanked all who brought donations for the Circle of Love Center.  The project for April will be helping to serve the weekly spaghetti dinners donated by Luigi’s Restaurant to the Boys & Girls Club of Greensboro.

Activities Co-Chair, Jane Phipps announced that there will be a group visit to the Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon on March 31.  Brenda Hill reported than plans for the annual Myrtle Beach four day outing are complete.  Maria Wheeler reminded all that the End of the Year Party at The Stables on May 20 will soon be taking reservations.

Debbie Orr then introduced Dr. Gene Vassy, a retired general surgeon from Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Vassy is now liveing at Lake Oconee and working with Tender Care in Greensboro for the promotion of cancer awareness and education.  He noted that Greene County has the highest mortality rate for colon, breast and lung cancer in Georgia and how early detection can positively impact the cure rate.

The meeting ended with door prizes being won by ~ Donna Jean Kendall, Louise Chase, Helene Perez and Mary Beth Schmidt.
