MOULTRIE, Ga. — It was not known whether a Georgia man arrested on Tuesday was trying to reenact the movie “Braveheart” or wanted to be a Smurf, but family members called police after he reportedly had painted himself blue and frolicked naked outdoors.

Waylon Joe Selph, who is no stranger to police, was arrested after an officer used his Taser to stop him as he tried to outrun deputies in a wooded area near his home.

When deputies encountered him, “Waylon appeared to be covered in a blue paint, but at this time he had (on) an orange shirt and black pants,” Colquitt County in Georgia Sheriff’s Office reports said.

When a deputy arrived, a family member told him that after painting himself blue, Selph ran around outside naked in view of neighbors. At that time he was in a camper in the back of the home, but went outside and ran toward the wooded area when the officer approached, police said.

A second deputy put an end to the chase with the Taser.

A neighbor told police that she saw Selph running around the yard with no pants or shirt on, but could not determine whether or not he was wearing underwear.

“(She) also stated that she was not trying to look because she was embarrassed,” reports said.

Other family members said that Selph had been paranoid and “talking nonsense” earlier.

Selph, 37, was taken into custody on a public indecency charge, police said.

Selph has been arrested a number of times. Some charges include driving under the influence, fleeing or attempting to elude police officer, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to yield to emergency vehicle and obstruction of an officer.
