The Knights of Columbus Council 13808 held its annual Law Enforcement Recognition Dinner April 20 in the Christ Our King and Savior social hall. The dinner is provided to the law enforcement personnel from Greene and Putnam counties to show appreciation for the outstanding service of these law enforcement agencies.

There were 110 attendees, including 30 personnel from the sheriff’s departments.

Three Knights received Challenge Coins from Sheriff Donnie Harrison in recognition for their support of the Greene County Sheriff over the years; they were Bob Coletta, Fran D’Antonio and Ken Weber. The Knights and their wives served a delicious spaghetti dinner with Bob Coletta’s secret family meat sauce recipe.

Grand Knight Jim Blankenheim served as emcee. Both sheriffs introduced their staffs and spent about a half hour taking questions from the floor about local crime and public safety issues.

The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization with more than 1.9 million members. Locally, the Pope John Paul II Council, located at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, has 179 members and serves Greene, Putnam and Hancock counties.  For more information visit www.knights-13808.org.
