GREENSBORO — Gather your family, friends and neighbors for a toe-tapping good time in historic downtown Greensboro for the 7th Annual Pickin’ on the Greene music event on Friday, June 15.

Downtown Greensboro celebrates the summer season with the 7th Annual Pickin’ on the Greene music event on Friday, June 15, from 7 to 10 p.m. on North Main Street. The Greensboro Main Street Program in partnership with the Greensboro Business Association presents Pickin’ on the Greene as the summer’s main event. This family-friendly event will feature live entertainment, children’s activities and of course, shopping and dining.

“Pickin’ on the Greene will offer the community a new way to experience Downtown Greensboro,” explains Kendrick Ward.  “We hear from visitors all the time that Greensboro is such a charming and welcoming place, which is why we share our town with others by inviting them to join us in a fun evening of music with our friends and neighbors.”

Headlining this year’s Pickin on the Greene are The Mulligan Brothers. From Mobile AL, the Mulligan Brothers have spent the last three years touring throughout the US and Europe, playing their brand of Americana Folk Rock.

The Mulligan Brothers started playing together five years ago in bars on Dauphin Street in Mobile, Ala. and now play around the world. They have played on the Cayamo music cruise and 30A Music Festival and will soon play on NPR’s Mountain Stage and make their fourth appearance at Jazz Fest in New Orleans.

The Mulligan Brothers are releasing their third studio album, Songs for the Living and Otherwise this summer. The album brings joy and pleasure from dark songs about life, loneliness, death and spirituality. Lead singer/songwriter Ross Newell’s warm, sincere voice brings out every emotion between pleasure and pain and makes you want to feel them over and over again.

Songs for the Living and Otherwise was mixed by Grammy-winning producer Trina Shoemaker at Dauphin Street Sound in Mobile and is the follow up to Via Portland and their debut album, The Mulligan Brothers.

Pullin’ Strings, local favorites, will open the night with their eclectic Americana sound.  With their six piece ensemble — two guitars, bass, drums, banjo, percussion — Pullin’ Strings always bring a good old time performing a fun mixture of their original tunes and favorite covers.

All are welcome and encouraged to bring a lawn chair and enjoy this free event. There will be food and beverages for purchase as well as home churned ice cream provided by Front Porch Churn. Downtown shops and restaurants stay open into the evening offering the very best in Lake Country shopping and dining.
