- Library summer reading winners.
A parade, prizes and a pizza party brought the 2018 Summer Reading Program at the Greene County Library to a close before the school season began.
In keeping with this year’s SRP theme the children marched through the library chanting Libraries Rock while playing the instruments they made over the weeks during the program (drums, tambourines, kazoos and ankle/wrist bells). Jackie McDonald (library manager) then awarded prizes to those reading the most books. Sarah Spivey won a basket of books, Demetree Hall won the back to school basket and De’Asia Hall won the arts and crafts basket. Evelyn Miller won the adult reader prize. All other readers won coupons from Pizza Hut.
Rounding out afternoon was the annual pizza party for the readers and their families. The Library wishes to thank the Farmers Bank of Greensboro for their significant annual donations to the SRP and to the Greensboro Pizza Hut for their generosity over the years.
