Ferst Readers to hold fall fundraiser

Published 6:01 pm Tuesday, September 18, 2018

Ferst Readers of Greene and Putnam Counties, formerly Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy, will once again sell raffle tickets to raise funds to provide monthly books for children from birth to age 5.

The purchase of a $35 raffle ticket is all you need to “adopt” a child. This also enters you in a drawing for one of several fabulous prizes.

This year’s prizes include five drawings for two dining experiences or two shopping sprees or flowers every other month from Z. Grant Design. The restaurants participating are Café 44, Bone Island Grill, The Silver Moon, Filet Steak & Seafood, Georgia Butts BBQ, Richard’s Wine Bar, The Grill, and The Iron Fork Café.

The participating shops are Bend the Trend, Madeleine Page Footwear & Apparel, The French Hare, Plantation Olive Oil Company, Paper Soiree, Aurum Jewelers, Cheveux Salon, Il Mio Gioiello Boutique, and LAKESIDE Art Gallery.

The drawing will be held at 8 p.m. on Oct. 23, at da Corrado Ristorante.

The goal is to support 500 children in Greene and Putnam Counties for the coming year by raising $17,500.

Tickets can be purchased from any community action team member, from Cathy Mize at 478-454-7150, or from Diana O’Keefe at 706-467-3765. Tickets are also available at Bend the Trend and Oconee Cleaners.
