The Lake Oconee Cancer Survivor & Support Group meets Thursday, Sept. 27, in the Magnolia Auditorium at the Georgia Cancer Specialists at 1000 Cowles Clinic Way. Dr. Priya Rudolph, oncologist and hematologist, will be guest speaker. She will speak about the latest in cancer treatments, and she is always willing to answer any questions.Meet & Greet is at 5:30 p.m. and Dr. Rudolph will speak at 6 p.m.

The public is invited to “Sunday At The Museum” hosted by the Old School History Museum beginning at 2 p.m. at The Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton. Featured speaker will be Coach Charles Winslette, an Eatonton native. Coach Winslette has the distinction of being inducted into FIVE Sports Halls of Fame. He was a Putnam County High School graduate who lettered in FIVE sports. He graduated from UGA earning three degrees and the UGA Presidential Scholar Athlete Award as well as voted onto the All-SEC Baseball Academic First Team. Coach Winslette is a popular speaker/clinician who has spoken at conferences throughout the US since retiring as Head Coach in 2012. Join us to hear his stories and his presentation on “Georgia High School Football: Past, Present, and Future.” The event is free, donations appreciated, and light refreshments will be served.

The Fundamentals of Soil Testing: The UGA Greene County Extension Office Master Gardener Volunteers are offering a free workshop from noon to 1:30 p.m. with a focus on testing your soil. The Fundamentals of Soil Testing workshop will cover the “when, how, and why” of testing the soil of your gardens, lawns and pastures. The importance of soil pH as it relates to plant growth will also be discussed.GC Master Gardeners Jackie Collins and Holly McLaren will lead the workshop. You can register by calling (706) 453-2083. The Georgia Writer’s Museum will present a murder master dinner, “Murder on Misty Island,” at the Rock Eagle Conference Center. Tickets are $55.
