The CIC of Reynolds Lake Oconee and the Landing will host Jamie Boswell, Chairman of the Georgia State Transportation Board, during their Jan. 9, meeting at the Reynolds Lake Club.

Boswell of Athens represents the 10th Congressional District and has served on the State Transportation Board since 2013. He will present the rationale, timetable and plans for the widening of Route 44. A question and answer session will follow. The meeting is open to CIC members only.

The proposed project which began the preconstruction phase in 2006 recognized the anticipated growth along the SR 44 corridor and was undertaken to improve access and operations between Eatonton to the south and Interstate 20 to the north, an approximate distance of 22 miles.

The CIC board volunteers their time and expertise to keep members informed about Greene County issues and programs. The individual committee members attend meetings covering the board of commissioners, board of education as well as community health, legal, state and regional politics, environmental, taxation and zoning and planning issues.
