christmas families

For many years, the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties has been helping local needy families during the holidays.  This past holiday season was no different. Members of the Rotary Club were busy during Christmas being Santa’s helpers in order to make Christmas a little brighter for four local families.  Two families from Greene County and two families from Putnam County were ‘adopted’ by the Rotary Club.  Rotarians carefully selected and wrapped gifts from the wish lists of many little girls and boys.  A total of 15 children, ranging in ages from 11 months to 17 years old, woke up on Christmas morning with surprises under their Christmas tree. In addition to these gifts, the Rotary Club was also able to help one family pay for their rent. Rotary Community Service Chair Beth Patrick said, ‘This was an amazing opportunity through the generosity of Rotary and a true blessing to be able to spread the spirt of the season to several families in our own community. Seeing the smiles on their faces thoroughly touched my heart.’
