GREENSBORO, Ga. — On Tuesday, Feb. 12, members of the Greene County Chamber of Commerce’s Public Affairs Committee, Education and Workforce Development Committee and students from Youth Leadership Greene visited the State Capitol for the inaugural Greene County Chamber Day at the Capitol.
The event was an initiative by the Chamber’s new Workforce Development Committee to help high school students become exposed to new career opportunities, and for Chamber members to know their elected officials better.
During the group’s visit, they meet with Greene County State Representative Trey Rhodes in his office to discuss the 2019 legislative session. They also visited with Governor Brian Kemp and took a group picture with the governor.
After a lunch provided by Georgia Power, the students and Chamber members heard presentations from Cosby Johnson, Senior Government Affairs Manager with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and Rahul Bali, the News Anchor for WDDK DOCK103.9 and Georgia Public Broadcasting. Both speakers shared their legislative and career experiences with the students and Chamber members. A resolution adopted by the House of Representatives commending the 2019 Youth Leadership Greene class, sponsored by Representative Rhodes, was read and given to each student.
