Who doesn’t remember the Memory Lane Classic Car Museum that used to be open a couple of years ago with all of those fabulous classic cars and fantastic memorabilia spread out in those two buildings on Scott Road in Eatonton. The proceeds from the museum all went to charity in the surrounding counties and multiple agencies from food banks, Christmas gifts for children, Scholarships for graduating seniors, and outings for our veterans, just to name a few, benefited from the museum.
Well, the area is in for a treat. The museum is now open once again on Friday and Saturday from 10-6 pm and on Sunday from 12-4 pm. Admission is just $5 and kids under 12 are free. Again the proceeds will be going to charity. This is a great opportunity to take a step back in time with your kids or grandkids and remember a much simpler time in history before cell phones and computers. Once again, there are two buildings loaded with different classic cars on display for your viewing pleasure.
Memory Lane will be celebrating its Grand Opening on July 20, 2019 from 4:00-10:00 pm with a Grand Opening Car Show. This event will be hosted by Jerry O. Smith, owner of Memory Lane and Lake Oconee Elks Lodge #2849. There is no admission charge for the Outdoor Car Show.
If you have a classic car, truck, or motorcycle you would love to show off, the registration is from 3:00-4:30 pm on the day of the show with an entrance fee of $20 for those participating in the show with their vehicles. There will be a People’s Choice Award given for the best car, or perhaps truck, in the show at 7:00 pm.
There will also be raffle drawings, a 50/50 drawing, burgers, hot dogs, bratwursts, grilled chicken, scoops ice cream, music by Scott and the Boat Rockerz, and beer, wine, and soft drinks. This really will be like a step back in time, reminiscent of a country fair. What could be better than old cars, great food, ice cream and a live band.
Memory Lane Museum is located at 170 Scott Road, Eatonton, Georgia 31024. Come enjoy the festivities and celebrate the re-opening of one of the lake area’s greatest treasures.
