Music springing deep from within the soul has special beauty and power. You recognize the source immediately. The Oconee Performing Arts Society is delighted to bring to the lake community a music ensemble that delivers such a heartfelt sound four generations in the making.  The Annie Moses Band draws from their great grandmother’s depression-era, sharecropper beginnings to infuse their blazing string music with a celebration of their heritage and the virtues that represent the best of America. 

Lead singer Annie Dupre and her fellow Julliard-trained siblings have created a classical Americana brand that captivates audiences. Starting in 2001, the band has since taken their music across the country and into Asia and Europe. The group presented a Christmas production on PBS in 2012 that garnered over 1200 hours of airtime, a record for a debut artist. Since then, this extraordinary family has been heralded at major venues from Carnegie Hall to the Grand Ole Opry. 

Champion League sponsors for the upcoming Sept. 20concert are Leslie and Skip Flint and Cheryl and Jim Laine. These two couples are representative of members who invest above their membership level to underwrite superb performances for the benefit of OPAS audiences. Skip explains his and Leslie’s motivation in this way: “We have been sponsors for several years and will continue to do so simply because many people don’t realize that without the Champion League, OPAS would not be able to present the outstanding array of shows and concerts that it is renowned for. Ticket sales alone do not cover the cost associated with engaging the highly acclaimed talent that the community has become accustomed to.”  Cosponsoring the concert are the Laine’s, who despite moving to the Alpharetta area recently, decided to continue their faithful support of OPAS. Cheryl remarked, “When Jim and I arrived at the lake 14 years ago, we expected to have to drive to Atlanta for cultural events.  We were delighted to discover opportunities through OPAS with no long drive, no traffic, easy parking and quality productions! Sponsoring the fall concert is just part of our commitment to OPAS and to the community.”  The OPAS Board of Directors and staff are deeply appreciative of these members who go the extra mile to ensure outstanding artists grace our stages.
