Your chance to participate in Ferst Readers of Greene and Putnam counties’ fall fundraiser is coming up on Sept. 24. A donation of $35 will give the gift of literacy to a young child AND give you a chance to win one of five fabulous prizes. The local child you “adopt” will receive a new, age-appropriate book every month for one year. All children living in Greene and Putnam from birth to age 5 are eligible to receive these books.  

This year’s raffle prizes include two dining experiences, two shopping sprees or flowers every other month from Z. Grant Design. The restaurants participating are Café 44, Bone Island Grill, The Silver Moon, Filet Steak & Seafood, Georgia Butts BBQ, The Grill, Sisson’s Old South Bar-B-Que, and The Iron Fork Café. The participating shops are Bend the Trend, Madeleine Page Footwear & Apparel, The French Hare, Plantation Olive Oil Company, Paper Soiree, Aurum Jewelers, Cheveux Salon, Il Mio Gioiello Boutique, and Lakeside Art Gallery. 

The drawing will be held at 7 p.m. on Sept. 24at da Corrado Ristorante. You do not have to be present to win.Da Corrado’s will be offering a prix fixe menu that night for $22 to all attending for the Ferst Readers Raffle drawing.  Come enjoy dinner, help us to celebrate the Raffle winners and Ferst Readers literacy program that evening. Ferst Readers’ goal is to provide books to 500 children in Greene and Putnam counties for the coming year by raising $17,500.
