The LOA Middle School Team performs at the Bulldog Invitational at Morgan County High School on September 14.  

The Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) Cheer Titans had a strong start to the competition season with their performance at the Bulldog Invitational at Morgan County High School on Saturday, Sept. 14. LOA’s high school and middle school cheer teams both competed that day.

“The first competition of the season is always tough — emotions and nerves are on high alert,” said head coach Jennifer Blythe. “Both teams handled the pressure and expectations extremely well.”

The middle school team competed against some strong schools and finished third out of seven teams. The LOA varsity team kept the nerves to a minimum and took first place, beating the competition by over 11 points.

Blythe has been building the cheer program at LOA over the last four years. In that short time, the program has earned an enviable reputation. The middle school team has held the title of Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) Champion for the last three years. Last year, the high school team finished 4^th at the state championships. 

Blythe remains hopeful and excited for what lies ahead this season. Coaches and parents have been using #rememberthetitans on social media to help chronicle the progress of each team.

“These two groups of athletes are trained and stand ready for a season of greatness,” said Blythe. “We are asking everyone in the community to come out and support these young ladies as they begin this journey to ‘Remember the Titans’.”

 

The Cheer Titans’ next competition will take place in two weeks. Both teams will compete at the 9^th Annual Tiger Cheer Classic on Saturday, Sept. 28^th at Commerce High School in Commerce.
