EATONTON, Ga. — Locals know that Rock Eagle’s history spans back farther than anyone around today can remember. But do they know what life at Rock Eagle was like before it was transformed into a 4-H Center? Join us as we journey back in time on a night hike through Rock Eagle Woods where history comes alive.

A Rock Eagle guide will lead guests on a walk through time to our historic pioneer home site. It is said that on cool nights in October, some of Rock Eagle’s previous denizens can be found wandering through the woods, unaware that time has changed around them. Throughout this hike, guests should stay on the lookout for glimpses of characters from Rock Eagle’s past, ready to tell their story. If you are lucky, they may share some of their history with you!

During the hike, the group will pause to enjoy an old fashioned campfire complete with games, stories, and fireside treats. This event is perfect for anyone who is mystified by Rock Eagle’s past and wants to enjoy a night of both history and fun.

Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. The program will begin promptly at 6 p.m and last approximately two hours. Advanced registration is required. For more information, please contact Anna Nolan at 706-484-4838 or by email at annan@uga.edu. This program is appropriate for all ages and costs $7 per person.
