- Chris Cuomo, 49, CNN nightly talk show host, disclosed Tuesday he has tested positive for the coronavirus.
ALBANY, N.Y. — Chris Cuomo, CNN news show host and younger brother of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, revealed Tuesday he has been diagnosed as positive for the coronavirus.
Cuomo, 49, said his symptoms are mild enough so far to permit him to continue his nightly political talk show from his home basement in Manhattan where he is quarantined.
In a post to his Twitter account, Cuomo said: “I have been exposed to people in recent days who have subsequently tested positive and I had fever, chills and shortness of breath. I just hope I didn’t give it to the kids and Cristina (his wife). That would make me feel worse than this illness!
“I am quarantined in my basement, which actually makes the rest of the family seem pleased! I will do my shows from here,” he added. “We will all beat this by being smart and tough and united!”
The governor, speaking later in Albany, called his brother “my best friend. This virus is the great equalizer. My brother is positive. He’s young, in good shape, strong. He’ll be fine.”
Governor Cuomo said last week he has not been tested for COVID-19 and that he has not experienced symptoms. New York City has emerged as the epicenter of the virus in the U.S.
