The Oconee Performing Arts Society Board of Directors welcomes Leslie Flint, Wendy O’Toole and Tommy Warner to the board team to serve for the 2020-2022 term.
Board chair Carolyn Fears noted that annually three new members are added as other board members complete their three-year tenure and rotate off the board.
She expressed, “The board is pleased to continue to attract dedicated board members who want to execute OPAS’s initiatives and programs to entertain, enrich, and educate our community through the performing arts.”
As members of the Terleckyj Society, Flint, O’Toole and Warner have been a significant part of OPAS for years. All are transplants to the lake area and are committed to helping improve the lake community. Leslie and her hubby Skip have three children and nine grandchildren. Since coming to the lake, she has been a member of the Plantation Ladies Club, a volunteer for ATLAS, and has served on the St. Mary’s Gala committee for two years. She and Skip have been generous in their support of concerts through the Champion League program and have hosted multiple new members parties in their home. For the second year, Flint will be a part of the committee planning the Soiree en Blanc & Noir fundraiser which was inaugurated as part of the Jeffrey Wells Society last fall and benefits education programming for students in surrounding counties
O’Toole, a native New Yorker, moved to Georgia from California. Her volunteerism has ranged from serving on Reynolds Board of Advisors and Events Committee to presiding over the local chapter of PEL, a nationwide philanthropic organization. Notably, while President of the St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Auxiliary, she was instrumental in implementing the “Love Lights” campaign. Currently she serves on the Foundation Board of the hospital. As members of OPAS from its inception, she and husband Dick, have been generous supporters. Due to being surrounded by the arts while living in New York, Wendy says, “It is essential to me that residents have some of these opportunities at the lake. “
Native Georgians, Tommy Warner and his wife, Janet, hail from Athens, Georgia. They have two children and four grandsons. During his career as a successful entrepreneur, Tommy found time to get involved in the community. He is an original contributor of Good Samaritan Hospital and The Writer’s Museum. He is also a supporter of Second Harvest, The Plaza Arts Center, The Lake Country Players, ATLAS, Circle of Friends and many other organizations in the community. He is a founding member of OPAS where he continues to be a Chairman’s Circle member, a Champion League sponsor, a member of the Jeffrey Wells Society and the Special Event sponsor. Tommy loves being a part of bringing the arts to the lake for people to enjoy.
Leslie Flint, Wendy O’Toole and Tommy Warner join the board at a time that presents challenges to our community and our nation. With their experience and strong leadership, these new board members will help lead us through this present difficulty into better days. On the horizon this fall are two concerts which feature excellent artists that will draw the community together for great nights of entertainment. The Board of Directors is pleased to have Leslie Flint, Wendy O’Toole and Tommy Warner contribute their vision, experience, and enthusiasm as OPAS moves forward into 2020.
