The Society of St. Vincent de Paul and the Knights of Columbus Council 13808 at Christ Our King and Savior Parish teamed up for the third food drive this spring to support the needy residents of Putnam County. More than 2,600 pounds of food items were donated and delivered to the Putnam Christian Outreach food pantry on Friday, June 12. Breakfast items were specifically requested by the pantry director to address the food insecurity of children and seniors whose normal resources for meals have been impacted by the closures related to the current COVID-19 pandemic crisis. The people who were served by this food drive were very appreciative of the donations that they received. Previous food drives have benefited the Greene County Food Pantry and Hancock Helping Hands Food Pantry. More than 8,500 pounds of food items were collected and delivered to our local food pantries at a time when demand had jumped by 30-40%, and more than 1,000 of our neighbors in need benefited from the generosity of our parishioners and residents of the Lake Oconee Community.
